Balance

Balance is another important asset when serving. It is easy to loose balance when serving as your ball lift being slightly off, and your feet not perpendicular to the net are just some of the easy ways to lose balance while serving. Research in junior competitive tennis has shown that losing balance while hitting causes 80% of all errors (ITF Coaching , 2016). It is evident that when viewing my serve that I have 100% balance when executing my serve. This is due to the fact that my feet are shoulder with apart which enables me a great base of support. My stance also allows for good rotation and weight transfer, this is so that I can go from loading with my legs to uncoiling all that power and transferring it up into the ball. My service stance also provides myself with a low center of gravity. Since my center of gravity is low this makes me more stable. This enables me to use all attributes of the kinetic chain. From having good balance on my serve it is evident that I start accelerating at the beginning of my forward swing and start to decelerate after my strings have made contact with the ball. This shows that when executing the serve, I am using my impulse to full advantage.
